Cultivated and selected for centuries in Bolivia. Its name derives from the variety of colors of its fruits that go through a variety of tones, starting from purple, to white, to light yellow, to golden yellow, to various shades of orange up to a bright red when ripe. All these colors are present at the same time on the plant, a real rainbow of colors, hence the name Rainbow.
Although it is a magnificent ornamental plant, its fruits are edible and have a pleasant taste, the fruits are excellent for flavoring and embellishing dishes in the kitchen.
