Stinging nettle is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows all over the world and is known to be stinging. It has hemostatic, diuretic, nourishing and stimulant properties. It is used in herbalism, medicine, cosmetics and cooking: the most tender buds are rich in vitamin C, nitrogen and iron, they are perfect for filling fresh pasta, minestrone, risotto or excellent omelettes. After cooking, nettle loses its urticating power. The chlorophyll extracted from nettle is used for colouring drinks, foods and perfumes. In organic farming, it is considered an excellent fertilizer and a repellent for numerous insects.
